Upland, Shropshire's Long Mynd & Stiperstones

The Long Mynd and the Stiperstones ridge make up the largest area of heathland in the Shropshire Hills. The images in this gallery are a small sample taken from my book Upland, an exploration of the wildlife and landscape of these two hills which brings together landscape and wildlife with lyrical nature writing. The photography was commissioned by the National Trust and Natural England for their major environmental project, Stepping Stones, I have been lucky to uncover more than a catalogue of flora and fauna; instead I have discovered the beauty of ravens, whitethroats, hobbies, skylarks, cuckoos, landscapes, marsh violets, golden-ringed dragonflies, full moons, dawns, dusks and the Milky Way in wondrous colour. Now out with Graffeg as a 200 page full colour paperback. 12 of the photos have been reproduced in a lovely 2018 Upland calendar.
